Welcome to Foundation for Evidence-based Development in India(FEDI)
INSTITUTIONS
FEDI is committed to strategic and potentially transformative initiatives that includes the establishment of entirely new institutions such as centers, institutes or redesigning of existing programs. FEDI's strategic planning framework provides a broad, flexible set of ideas aimed at moving toward an overarching interdisciplinary vision that will enhance the Foundation's value to students, researchers, academicians, policy makers and stake holders and the society. FEDI wants to leverage its "expertise, diversity, and interdisciplinary culture into competitive advantages that lead to reputation gains" through the institutions its establishes.
CEPPI shall operate in collaboration with a host university and ensure "value added" to the university through securing international policy research projects, helping students and researchers to learn out of those projects, import evidence-based skills and improve host’s “brand” internationally..
The Centre aims to achieve national leadership in evidence-based decision making and policy design support. The Centre will work with central, state and local policymakers to use high-quality evidence to guide decisions, maximize resources and improve outcomes. In the long run, South Asian governments could also become the Centre’s clients.
Use of evidence-based methods to help governments and institutions to strengthen their policy decisions about their developmental efforts in the areas of health, education, agriculture, environment, public & social policy, and resource management.
Meta-analysis guides policy decisions through giving analytical picture of large populations and areas for a particular problem. This is a quantitative synthesis of research findings which helps mainly to compare or combine the findings of systematically chosen primary studies from a population. By combining results, a policymaker assesses the magnitude and significance of various statistical measures which provide details on populations. By comparing results, a policymaker is interested in identifying moderators of effect sizes i.e. characteristics of populations. It also identifies sources of similarities and differences in results across studies within a large population. In sum, conducting a meta-analysis is one of the most compelling ways to develop policy based on empirical findings.
